Living the Reiki Principles

One thing that has helped me along a TON is meditating and reflecting on the Reiki Principles. What they truly mean and ways to use what they can teach everyone! No attunement needed, just the desire to find peace.

These coming articles will be an exciting series, (this is just a teaser), for me because I want to discuss not only what Dr. Usui had in mind for each principle, but my take on them, as well as ways I practice them each day.

*WARNING* Please bear in mind, nobody's perfect and don't chastise yourself if you catch yourself not adhering all the time. Acknowledge the fact you are human and don't live up to your self standards, then move on from that moment. Dwelling on the past and obsessing will always lead to anger or worry, among other negative thought processes and emotions.

"Every journey starts with a single step;
Make today your first step into a better future and begin living more joyfully."
- Penelope Quest

These principles were passed down by Dr. Usui. They should be chanted aloud and remembered in your heart every morning.

Just for today, do not be angry.

Just for today, do not worry.

Just for today, be filled with gratitude.

Just for today, earn your living honestly.

Just for today, be kind to all life.

Just for today, love unconditionally.

*Okay, the last one is one that I added because loving all beings unconditionally is not always that easy. If you've ever had a pet or kids you know exactly what I mean.

Anger & Worry

I'm lumping these two together for now because I will be going way deeper into these next time.

There's a reason "do not be angry" and "do not worry" are first. Anger and worry are the two base emotions that need to be regulated in order to progress in all aspects of your being.

Anger is usually tied to responses in the past that no longer serve us as we grow personally and spiritually. It's usually triggered when someone/something fails our expectations - or even, more importantly, when we don't meet our own expectations. It may feel strange to realize it, but anger is a conscious choice and typically is a habitual reaction to a particular set of circumstances. We really can choose to not be angry! (Just for today)

In the same way we can choose not to worry. Worry is linked to fear. Fear of the unknowable. Also our own lack of self-belief that we can cope and it tends to center around a "what if?" situation - a future event that is never realized and quite possibly never will be. Worrying can also be a habit we get into, but it is not for those who are "living in the moment", so we can choose to not worry! (Just for today)

"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate...hate...leads to suffering." - Yoda

Seeing what these emotions are and how they can be managed takes time and practice. And altering your choices surrounding them works wonders. And, of course, ridding yourself of the imperative to be an asshole or burying yourself in self destructive patterns will surely change your perception.

Once you get past the two biggest happiness killers it is all easy, right? *BUZZ* Afraid not. In fact the rest are the easiest to say, but putting them into practice is all about your willingness to let go.

Living with Gratitude

"Be thankful for everything you have now, have had in the past and will have in the future. Being actively grateful will bring even more good things into your life."
- Penelope Quest

Being filled with gratitude constantly is no small task. How can you possibly be grateful when you're up to your eyeballs in debt or your relationship is a mess? By appreciating the riches you truly have in life. Friends, loved ones, experience, knowledge, opportunities for growth - which sometimes have a way of being a harsh lesson, but all lessons are intended for your own greatest good. You just have to remember that even in the worst of times there is something to be thankful for. And when things seem their most bleak the Universe also lets you know it has your back, in a sense, through the Law of Attraction. Way more on that later.

Working Honestly and Diligently
"You are a limitless being in a limitless Universe,
with the power to create whatever you want."
- Reverend Simon John Barlow

There are a few ways Dr. Usui's Principle has been translated:
  • Work hard
  • Do your work diligently
  • Do your work honestly
  • Be honest in your work.
These all are part of it, but these interpretations sound more geared specifically to the physical/3D realm we are inhabiting currently. Not to mention they have, to me at least, undertones of a consumerist drone mentality, lack of mindful living and no drive for greater things. The deeper meaning has to do with being honest with yourself about who you are. Where in your personal development are you heading and what steps are you taking to get there. Striving to be your best version of YOU while maintaining integrity and following your own moral and ethical compass.

Living with Kindness

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." - Aesop

To be kind to all life. Now it seems self explanatory enough. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The golden rule is definitely good policy, but the one being that is most neglected and in need of your kindness is YOU. There is a small, terrified child self that is about to blow into full tantrum mode if not given attention. You just have to be giving the appropriate attention that will serve your greatest good. Once you begin working on loving yourself you will be more accepting of the love you never thought you deserved. Plus, seeing more of what the Universe really wants to give you.

Loving Unconditionally

there can be no more hurt. Only more love."

To love unconditionally...This has got to be by far the MOST difficult to accomplish for a day, let alone in a lifetime. Love is the glue of the Universe. It is capable of indescribable power, both positive and negative.

Though, personally I am still working on this aspect of myself. At least by the time I write this one I will have more insight.

I look forward to the coming articles. There is SO much to go over, but I like the challenge.

Learning the Ways of "The Force"

This is a post that I wrote for another forum Nerd Fitness Rebellion.

What is Reiki?

“It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.” - Obi-Wan Kenobi

I was asked by my mentor how to describe Reiki energy if I were speaking to someone on the street. Knowing that unless I were vacationing on Tatooine, The Force is the perfect reference. A more literal translation of Reiki is "Universal Life Force" after all. But, in the study of Reiki and practice of healing with that energy relates a little better to "Spiritual Life Force". And a Reiki student/practitioner/Master uses a "laying on of hands" to act as a conduit to channel "The Force" into the recipient for the purposes of holistic healing. Physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

  • The Physical Level (any pain or illness): Your body's ability to heal itself kicks into lightspeed. Usually alleviating pain and flushing toxins from your system. Your body energy harmonizes and promotes a balanced state of well being which can lead to better eating habits and exercise routines.
  • The Emotional Level (what you are feeling and experiencing): Reiki inspires you to examine how you handle emotions. Encouraging you to let go of anger, resentment and worry, thus promoting the qualities of loving, caring, sharing, trusting and goodwill. It can also help to channel emotional energy into creativity.
  • The Mental Level (your thoughts and attitudes): Reiki practice involves meditation and energy work. By focusing yourself and allowing the energy to flow through you brings deep relaxation, reduction of stress and tension. It allows you to let go of negative thoughts, attitudes, perceptions and replace them with thoughts of peace, love and serenity. It can enhance your intuitive abilities and pushes you pursue your personal potential through Self-awareness.
  • The Spiritual Level (your capacity to love yourself and others unconditionally): Love and acceptance of your whole Self. Being less judgemental of others and seeing each person as a pure and beautiful soul energy as well as a human, or wookie. Love, compassion, gratitude and understanding all drive you to follow your own path of personal growth and spiritual development.

Levels of Attunement

"The Force is strong with this one." - Vader

Now, much like the Jedi, the student has the ability to hone and develop their use of the force for the greater good. Unlike the Jedi, however, in order to channel the energy you must receive an "attunement". It doesn't rely on medichlorian count or lineage, (well kind of, but that's deeper stuff that is taught in a class), and can be given to anyone who would like to receive it. The attunement opens the student's energy gates to allow for an open flow of Reiki from the Universe through their pathways and out. I wish this meant I could grab a glass of wine from the other room while watching TV, or control the minds of others for fun and profit. But, not so much.

There are four levels of Reiki training along with four levels of attunement. Each compounding your ability to channel the Force through you.

  • Reiki 1, 2 (Padawan): At level one the emphasis at this level is on self healing, learning basic hand positions and performing a full self treatment. But, you're also taught how to perform treatments on friends or family. Plus, history and origins of reiki, how to use the force on animals and plants. Level two you learn three sacred symbols and their mantras (sacred names), and some special ways of using them. You're also taught a form of "distant" healing which enables you to "send" Reiki treatment to anyone, with the same effectiveness as if that person were having a hands on treatment.
  • Reiki 3 (Knight): This is the level of Reiki Master. And as such it means that your dedication to your personal development and self mastery. An additional sacred symbol and mantra is learned as well as the ability to carry out the attunement processes for each level. Definitely not to be taken lightly.
  • Reiki 4 (Master): There are many different ways Reiki is taught all over the world and the levels vary, like level three is broken into two for instance. But, the learning and development never stops. Additional attunements, symbols and healing techniques open you to greater wisdom and understanding of Reiki.

Use The Force

"Close your eyes. Feel it. The Light...it has always been there. It will guide you." - Maz Kanata

My main goal with this is to teach others that are interested in the practice of Reiki and be a resource for those other practicing Jedi out there. I do have my company page listed on Facebook now @QStyling23, and my blog Quantum Life Styling.

May the Force be with You.

Why we're here in the first place.

Hello To All and thank you for coming to my page!

I am so grateful that you came.

So, I am Quorra. I am a spiritual life coach and Reiki practitioner in Salt Lake City, UT. I am a proud transwoman and have a deep affinity for the LGBTQ+ community. The tools that I utilize every day have truly shaped my life experience and I continue to develop with practice. But what I give are devices that can be used for anything from memory development to chakra cleansing. Finding your Higher Self to developing your intuitive abilities.

My core belief is that in order to bring true happiness your must first develop your Self. Your whole You.

"Realize your Self, and others will notice."

Through hypnosis, meditation and Reiki I have been developing skills to better fulfill my goals in life. Expansion of consciousness isn't always just about becoming a monk totally dedicated to their solitary life. My approach builds on your own set of abilities that you have full access to, but haven't quite found where to look yet.

The answer? Within!

By understanding your Self, (past, present and future), you can profoundly influence this lifetime experience for Your highest good. Using intention to mold your reality and achieve great things. Listening to your intuition and cultivating psychic ability through astral projection and the Akashic Records.

What I hope to accomplish through this is to;
  1. Raise awareness and teach about the benefits of Reiki, both physically and spiritually.
  2. Give others the ability to expand their awareness of Self and the Universe.
  3. Share methods I use  daily life that have shaped my own Journey.
I look forward to this Journey and I hope you join me in exploring your divine Self!

Let the energy rain down on me

To begin,

Since my attunement, my perceptions and attitudes about life have been shaken to the core. My intuition and sense of Self have been amplified. Within a weeks time I have discovered parts of my being that were unknown, or long forgotten.

For the last week and a half I have been working on my routines. Meditation and Reiki self work either mornings before my day begins, or while winding down for the night. Using a combination of breathing and reciting the Reiki principles I have been able to more easily guide myself into trance.

I have been reading Living the Reiki Way by Penelope Quest. Very good book on a more personal understanding and experience with Reiki. But, she describes how to do a "Reiki Shower". Definitely worth it.

So, the purpose of the "shower" is to clear negative energies from your ethereal body and heal the physical one we inhabit. Very cleansing and calming for when you need a boost. It's really pretty easy and allows for a much better sense of how the energy flows during healing.

Here is the process as explained in the book:

  1. Stand or sit and make yourself comfortable. Place your hands in the gassho (prayer) position with your palms together, fingers pointing upward. Do this while focusing on your breathing and intention of carrying out a Reiki Shower.
  2. Separate your hands and lift them above your head as high as possible, keeping them about 12-15 inches apart. As you feel the ki building up between your hands turn your palms downward so they are facing the top of your head.
  3. Visualize ki flowing out of your hands and intend that you be receiving a shower of Reiki energy, which flows over and through your whole physical and energy body, cleansing you and removing any negative energy or emotions.
  4. When you sense the vibration of the ki energy flowing over and through you move your hands, palms still facing towards you, and begin to draw them slowly down over your face and body. Still keeping your hands about 12-15 inches away from your body. Intend that Reiki be flowing from your hands and continuing to cleanse and revitalize you as you draw your hands all the way down your body, down your legs to your feet. Then eventually turning your palms to the floor and either touching the ground or gently throwing the energy off your hands so that any negative energy flows out and into the Earth below for transformation.
  5. Repeat the exercise a few times - 3 the recommended ideal - and you should feel cleansed, calmed and relaxed.
  6. Place your hands together again in the gassho position and spend a few moments experiencing gratitude for the Reiki and then finish. You may find it helpful to clap your hands once or twice to help you return to a more wakeful state if you feel a bit spacey.

Now this was just cool! Once I had reached my mind state and began to let the energy flow down over me it did in fact feel like a shower. (One thing to be conscious of that isn't mentioned in the process, though it is good standard practice when channeling Reiki, is keep your fingers held together firmly. The difference in flow was noticeable.) The process lasted about 15 minutes or so, and is definitely becoming a regular thing!

Tribute to the Loving Light

This post and is dedicated to a truly remarkable man. One who's life's work has been offering the opportunity for others to be their best Self. Their TRUEST Self.

With gratitude deep in my heart I begin My life's work. To keep His spirit and light shining.

.......

Hello!

And welcome to my blog.

My name is Quorra.

My goal is to show you that living Your Truth is totally possible and incredible. And, here I am hoping to convey my own understanding of life force, energy work, consciousness expansion, kundalini/chakra, Reiki, intuitive awareness, Akashic records, astral projection, hypnosis, magick in numerous forms and many other subjects that I think are all important to grasp. And all of these practices contain tools to become who you truly are. As you have always been ever since your own spirit energy surged into existence.

With all that I have learned over the last 15 or so years I have truly found my own Self. Well, found, but still a work in progress.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you. It is SO worth it!
